[CALUG] pine problem - duplicate D/L's in GUI emailer

hi,

I get various duplicated D/L's of emails on a server.

On two different boxes, FC6 and F9, with at least one Thunderbird
and one Seamonkey emailer, when I D/L email, I get repeated D/L's
of some ( so it's not really a "pine" problem....).

Note: right now, I'm only using the ONE emailer, Thunderbird.
I can see why a 2nd eamiler would want it's own D/L's !!!)
I've merely demonstrated the problem with both emailers.

I access the server shell over telnet and occasionally
read the email with the server's pine client. I may then
go away for an hour and D/L the email on my box with Thunderbird.
This is a relatively
new account. My previous ISP didn't have this problem.

It's a computer club with a lonestar.org, freeshell.org shell and web
pages etc., and their own "tenex.org" dialup line. The dialup username
is "something at tenex.org" and the email/shell account is
"something at freeshell.org. The email server is "mail.freeshell.org".

This account is useful as a shell, and web page, but I haven't yet been
accessing any regular user maillists yet... They seem to mostly be
irc, and I generally don't sit here trying to do IRC. Thats just me.

My GUI emailer is set to leave messages on the server.
And I'm using pop port 110.

The pine client at the server seems to handle the mail correctly.
I can flag ( or have re-flagged) email as "New" just to test ).

** Any suggestions on how to get each email only once with the gui ?

thx !!

Walt........
