Description:
The Sr Systems Administrator position requires a versatile individual  
with the experience and capability to enhance the activities of a  
technology infrastructure engaged in computer operations, systems  
administration, and networking services. This individual is  
responsible for performing the following duties: server  
administration, backup/recovery, storage management, performance  
tuning, high availability, server security, and project management.  
Excellent communication and troubleshooting skills required to  
diagnose and then communicate all levels of infrastructure (Network,  
Server/OS, SAN, Database, and Application). They must have working  
knowledge of Solaris, SAN infrastructures, and Backup  
Infrastructures. This individual will be expected to participate in a  
duty schedule to support 24x7 operations. This position requires the  
individual to both work well as a team member and to work on projects  
with little supervision.

This open position is to supplement the existing tier-III Server  
Support team which is responsible for administering all internal and  
external servers across the company’s 16-state, regionally dispersed  
infrastructure. Well over 500 servers exist; with external clusters  
dedicated to a large-scale Sendmail mail server farm, the customer  
VoIP backbone as well as other ISP provider elements, and internally,  
Oracle server farms and support systems for various functions for 1200 
+ users.

Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree

3-5 years UNIX Administration experience

Excellent technical skills with proven experience leading UNIX  
projects and support. Expertise in Solaris, SAN Infrastructures, and  
Netbackup. Experience supporting an Oracle infrastructure is  
required. Must possess strong time management, decision-making, human  
relations and organizational skills. Must be able to research  
projects, establish direction, and execute project completion.

Technical Experience Requirements:

• Minimum of 3 years experience administering SUN Solaris in an  
Enterprise environment
• Minimum of 3 years experience administering RedHat Linux in an  
Enterprise environment
• Minimum of 2 years supporting enterprise backups (Netbackup preferred)
• Minimum of 2 years cluster server experience (Veritas Cluster  
Server supporting Oracle preferred)

Prefer candidates that have experience with:
• Experience in supporting a SAN Infrastructure
• Experience in supporting an Oracle infrastructure
• Experience with ISP service support activities
• Experience with clustered Sendmail environments
• Minimum of 2 years experience administering Weblogic
• HP-UX administration
• Experience with Cisco routers and switches, as well as a general  
understanding of networking principles
• Windows Server 2003, Windows Clustering, Exchange, IIS, or Citrix.
• Web Server Administration (preferably Apache with experience using  
servlets, jrun connectors, and Jakarta tomcat)
• Shell scripting
• Security Certified (preferably CISSP or Security+)
• Server security including OS security, application security, web  
security, and network security
• Code development and deployment, including ability to perform basic  
troubleshooting and compilation of Java, C/C++, and php.
• Implementing and integrating databases and applications.
