Guest Speaker: Brian Whaley

DIY Harpsichord

Come meet other Makers from the Washington, DC metro area!

Have you ever thought about building a musical instrument? Brian Whaley
did. With a long musical history and a love of early music, he always
wanted a harpsichord but couldn't afford to buy one. What better way is
there to get what you want than to build it? With a few projects under
his belt, he wanted to go for it. Luckily, a friend of a friend gave him
a very old kit he was never going to assemble. Armed with some basic
tools and lots of free time, Brian now has a harpsichord.

As an engineer, Brian continues to delight in building things out of
wood primarily using hand tools in his home shop. More of his projects
can be seen on his website at http://basementlabs.org

Come out to see how he did it!
