Position Description for MDLNet AWIPS System Administrators

Description: Perform systems administrative duties for the NWS/MDL
(Meteorological Development Laboratory) software maintenance test systems.
May also work in partnership with the current lead system administrators at
the Science and Engineering Center (SEC) for the NMTW, NMTR, NHDA and NAPO
software maintenance test systems. Duties will include system administration
of the NWS/MDL NHDW and NHD2 software maintenance test systems and sif and
tyr build systems. Duties will also include: administration of a software
development laboratory that primarily includes Red Hat Enterprise Linux and
CentOS operating systems; administration of multiple NIS/NFS and LDAP
environments; configuration and installation of various development software
builds and services; provide user support including developer support for
issues as diverse as shell scripting (csh, ksh, bash, perl), portability,
build environment maintenance; and quarterly security scanning and patching.


Education: B.S. in Computer Science, with 2 years experience

Skill Requirements (all at least 2 years experience):

   - Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.n
   - CentOS
   - csh, ksh, bash scripting
   - perl
   - Python
   - Tcl/Tk
   - Bastille
   - CIS Level-1 security
   - Java
   - PostgreSQL
   - Networking experience including associated switches, routers and DVBs
