Dual boots have never felt right even back in the years you mentioned. Not
sure what your current hardware is, are you building an X11 app? Do you
need 64-binaries? I would look at other solutions such as your local
hackerspace for a place to develop, running a Linux virtual machine in
VirtualBox, a free amazon cloud instance, heck you could probably find a
friend that could give you an account on his Linux system so you don't have
to dual boot.
The private reply's before might have suggested one or all alternatives
Many options these days.
