Greetings All,

For our October 12 meeting we'll be welcoming Berend Tober and his talk
entitled "Command Line Data Mining: Set Theory and Association Rules"

This presentation will start with a review of basic set theory and set
operations, including hands-on examples using standard command line tools
inside a thin layer of Bash scripting, and then build on that foundation to
explore the basic definitions of association rules and how to leverage set
operations to characterize rules in terms of support, confidence, lift, and
conviction.

Bash script source code will be available for those interested in hands-on
learning.
Our meetings are held at the offices of OmniTI in Fulton, MD. From
6:30-7:00pm we enjoy some social time over pizza and soda. (We are looking
for a new pizza sponsor. Until then, we are asking for, but not requiring,
donations) The presentations start about 7pm and last until they are done.
The meetings generally wind up about 9pm.
