>From the terminal, Ctrl+Alt+T, run sudo apt update
This will identify which software source is causing the problem.
You can try disabling it then re-try the sudo apt update command.
Thanks

Subject: [CALUG] Problems mit Ubuntu upgrades - failed to download repository information?

I keep getting this result when I try to run my software updater on Ubuntu 19.10. My internet connection is *totally fine*. I can check the "Settings", but without the slightest hint of which one (if any) is actually failing, there's no way to fix anything. Besides, when I change a repository setting (just arbitrarily, just to see), it does "updating software cache" for a minute or two - then crashes. Every time. No matter what I do.

Below is the tail of /var/log/syslog during the time of the failure, not very informative, at least to me. Can anyone ponit me in a good direction for further investigation? Thanks very much again, and cheers - Ed
