I have not played with Solaris 2.10, but some knowledge from 2.9 may be useful;<br>

The Solaris 2.9 installation package included a pair of disks besides the operating-environment (OE) installation disk. One of the extra disks contained Sun web-development and similar tools. The other extra disk was packed with FOSS application software pre-compiled for the OE.<br>
<br>
If you have access to the Solaris 2.10 installation package, and Sun included the FOSS disk with 2.10, then you may find a set of application programs on the FOSS disk which effortlessly talk to each other.<br>
