[CALUG] trouble mounting usb cdrw

The 'not a valid block device' seems to be a catchall message.
I can't give you 'the' answer to your problem, in fact I'm only
going to ask questions that will hopefully help you figure it out.
- I found a HOWTO for kernel 2.4.0, but it might help:

- Have you successfully mounted the drive in read-only mode?
- If so, what does the mount listing say for that?
- If this is the first time you have mounted the drive, are the
USB drivers running (lsmod if they are modules, otherwise
poke around /proc--/proc/bus/usb on my 2.6 system)?
- Have you posted your question to Slackware support?
- I hate to say it, but the USB drivers for 2.6 were iffy up to
about 2.6.18, I don't know if the 2.4 drivers are very good at
all, and if they even support writeable CDs
